Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom review

Three years after Jurassic World, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the park to save the dinosaurs from a deadly volcano, but uncover a deadlier conspiracy.

Gratuitous violence and over the top CGI, Jurassic Park has officially fallen to pure B Rated schlock with a big budget. I’m sure there’s going to be a sequel, as the response has been financially reassuring. Fallen Kingdom is a remake of Lost World, nearly beat for beat in the first half, sans teenagers assaulting raptors from a high bar acrobatic routine. The second half is just a jumble of curiously mismatched scenes where we go from talking about incredibly smart this new dino is to watching it struggle with stairs to watching it destroy nearly an entire building, then tip toeing around a pre-teen’s bedroom to try to scare her for reasons unknown.  One thing that I did appreciate was how it left the world at the end of the film.  There’s a couple decisions there that may or may not turn into something amazing down the road, but for the sake of this movie they’re just interesting bookends.

I’m going to skip the next movie in the theaters I think, or at the very least not run out and have to watch it immediately.
