Artwork by Kazuki Takamatsu
“Kazuki Takamatsu mixes traditional and modern techniques. From one hand he uses gouache, hand painted monochromed based objects whilst from the other hand he uses ‘Depth Map a technique where every pixel on the object is a shade of gray that is proportional to its distance from the object looking at it.”
Small site updates
I have an idea on how to fix the comment rating/replying/subscriptions issue, but it requires that :
1) I have 100% attention on it
2) Comment be disabled for about 30 minutes
both of these require that I be:
1) sober
you see my problem?
also, two changes to mcs, from here on out, only mcs+ peeps can rate images. yep. also, the slider advert on the images for non mcs+ peeps is gone. that shit made MCS a grand total of $20 over the last 4 months that we’ve been testing it, and frankly that’s just not enough for the amount of distraction is was causing.
also: did you know that MCS had over 2 million pageviews last month? Sounds like a lot, but this time last year (during the 2008 elections) we actually hit over 3million in a single month. Madness, amirite?

North American A-5 Vigilante
The North American A-5 Vigilante was a powerful, highly advanced carrier-based supersonic bomber designed for the United States Navy. Its service in the nuclear strike role to replace the A-3 Skywarrior was very short; however, as the RA-5C, it saw extensive service during the Vietnam War in the tactical strike reconnaissance role. Prior to the unification of the Navy designation sequence with the Air Force sequence in 1962, it was designated the A3J Vigilante.

A visit from Grandma and Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa were visiting their kids overnight. When Grandpa found a bottle of Viagra in his son’s medicine-cabinet, he asked about using one of the pills. The son said : ‘I don’t think you should take one, Dad. They’re very strong and very expensive.’ ‘How much?’ asked Grandpa. ‘$10.00 a pill.’ answered the son.‘I don’t care,’ said Grandpa,‘I’d still like to try one, and before we leave in the morning, I’ll put the money under the pillow.’ Later the next morning, the son found $110.00 under the pillow. He called Grandpa and said : ‘Dad, I told you each pill costs $10.00, not $110.00. ‘ ‘I know,’ said Grandpa. ‘The hundred is from Grandma!’

Russell’s Teapot
“If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.” – Bertrand Russell, 1952

Arithmometer Odhner-Hill
The mechanical calculator made in Odhner and Hill factory in St.-Petersburg (Russia) The first such device was made in 1931 and provided the Soviet bureaucracy and terror machine with much needed ways to account for things, including facilitating GULAG operations. LSD – Dream Simulator
I just picked up a ROM of this gem and let me tell you all it’s the strangest game I’ve ever played. You take the role of an unknown protagonist exploring various dream worlds and interacting with different people or creatures. Dreams are generated depending on its content following a weird grid that have 4 ends of a spectrum: UPPER, DOWNER, STATIC, and DYNAMIC. You play the game as you would walk around in a dream. Examples include walking through a house with an endless corridor in the basement, a man in a suit and hat that stalks you, a flying pterodactyl, a giant face jutting from the wall, being swallowed by the sun, and so much more. Just explaining this game makes my head hurt. Check it out some time if you’re looking to trip balls.
