I think it’s these animals that get heart problems due to cracking shells on their chests.
From the Aquatic Wildlife Conservation Center website:
Two separate causes of heart problems have been found in sea otters. The first is inflammation of the heart caused by sarcosystis and the second comes from domoic acid exposure which sometimes results in damage to the heart muscle.
It’s probably a myth then. Thanks for correcting me.
I surf with sea otters all the time. Their cool creatures. Live such a chill life.
