Because no one wants to deal with reality. Whenever the reality that all humans are wrong and have been wrong for a long time presents itself, we must cover it up with something else to make it go away. You wanna know something else? If it weren’t for war our “planet” would be fucked over much more than it is now. Overpopulation, as big of a problem as it is now, would be an even bigger problem.
If you’re looking for wholesale slaughter I’d recommend disease. Every war ever fought combined still doesn’t equal the mortality percentage of the Black Plague, the only time in recorded history where the world population decreased over the course of a century.
Is the Black Plague the one that wiped out 1/3 of the planet’s population?
