Which seems odd… because the PS3 HAS NO GAMES.

    I’m thinking about buying a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player.

My friend got it just for Soul Caliber 4 (and as a blu-ray player). We’re both button mashers and she still kicks my ass.

was thinking the EXACT same thing, diabeetus. thoughts on why one would not do such a thing? my wife seems to think it’s a bad idea.

I got one. Among others I’m waiting for GT5 – I won’t buy FPS games for anything that doesn’t have a keyboard and mouse.

what’s the better alternative to PS3 as blu-ray player? educate the admittedly ignorant!

I bought the 80-gig one before it was discontinued so I could watch Blu-ray movies and play my PS2 games both downstairs (on the PS3) and upstairs (on the PS2).

For those of you who don’t know, the 80-gig PS3 was the only one that had the Emotion Engine chip from the PS2 built in, i.e. true PS2 emulation. (the 20 gig one might have too)

    – At the moment there really is nothing better for a blu-ray player. The big reason being that it has online firmware updates which all but maybe one or two of the newest (read most pricey) dedicated player has.

You know, and it does play games… Or at least it has games coming soon(tm).

Of fine… just to fanboi it up. PS3 has Force Unleashed, GTA4, and will have Fallout 3, GT5, and other hot new titles. Meh, I’m really console neutral for the most part though.
