Is quantum even a noun in that sense?

    -no veiled sexual reference
    -no goofy villain name
-no quasi philosophical adage (eg. “never say never”, “tomorrow never dies”)
-no use of the word “gold”

Yeah, it could be the worst bond movie name ever.

Sure, quantum is a noun. Its the smallest possible unit of something, usually energy, sometimes time or gravity.
Even though the title sucks, the poster looks bad ass. The last one was good enough, I’ll check this one out.

so translation: smallest possible piece of peace?

    From IMDB:
The meaning of the film’s title “Quantum of Solace” is a small degree of comfort that can exist between two people emotionally in a relationship. According to Ben Macintyre of Times Online, the Governor character in the Ian Fleming short story of the same name defines it as “… a precise figure defining the comfort, humanity and fellow feeling required between two people for love to survive. If the quantum of solace is nil, then love is dead.”

i’m sorry, “A View To A Kill” is the worst.
maybe only second worst, but definitely below this.

Yeah, I’d have to agree. IMHO, as names go, “A view to a kill” was one of the most inane titles… Even when the phrase was used in the movie it sounded lame… “Quantum of Solace” actually sounds cool, to me anyway, even if it seems a tad out of place for a Bond flick…

    Emotion?

    In a James Bond movie?!?

That’s why it’s only a small degree. Also, after he gave his heart and soul to that slightly attractive chick (Eva Green) in the last one (“Casino Royale”) and had it broken by her betrayal, death, whatever, he goes more and more towards the “I don’t care about anything but the job, and women are mere playthings, I’ll never invest myself emotionally in anyone ever again” attitude we are used to seeing from Bond.

To whoever asked, that looks like a UMP with a silencer
