    I can’t find the info in the link, but I think this happened in Durham, NC. They were protesting outside on Tuesday, and my dad flipped them off as he drove by…ugh.

    I think these folks are trolling everyone. Look at the URL on the lower left sign BillionairesforWealthcare.com. Perhaps too subtle, but their site is pretty good.

    WT’s right, I think. It looks like a parody. Look at the symbol on the signs as well as the URL ( A pig with money sticking out of its back. Piggy bank ). And the slogan on one of the signs “Because Corporations know what’s best for you” strikes me as obvious sarcasm.

    Of course its a parody. They’re making fun of the teabaggers. 2 of them, at least, are wearing wigs, ffs. Funny thing is, I bet alot of the teabaggers didnt know it was a parody.

    Everyone’s in favor of ‘health care reform’. Call it what it is, government interference in a free market and control over what happens to our bodies.

    If you really want ‘health care reform’, kill the lawyers first. Frivolous lawsuits with ridiculous damages forces doctors to do more tests than are necessary and sends the cost of malpractice insurance through the roof. That cost is passed on to us in the form of increased medical and insurance costs.

    Not true. Tort reform does not prevent or slow increases in insurance costs. It does however penalize people for being injured and becoming disabled at a young age.

    I don’t see why you guys voted AliceH down. I gotta say, I agree.

    I’ve taken at least 5 people to the ER in the last year, and all of them got in that same night. I think that’s pretty good. I’ve never had a problem with my health care.

    The reason doctors cost so much really is because of all the malpractice insurance that they have to buy. A doctor should have to pay if (s)he messes up on you, but some of the things people sue for are ridiculous.

    Now, if you are talking Health Insurance, that’s another matter entirely. And, if the government creates their own health insurance program, it’ll probably fail (like many of the state programs)*, and if it doesn’t, they’ll subsidize it and private corporations cannot compete with that.

    *Unless they bring in the people from the states that made the state health insurance work

    I’m of the opinion that it’s a bit too early to pick a candidate. ^.^ I’m looking to see what 3rd parties come out for 2012. I think all the bickering between the two major parties will annoy more people than me, and 2012 election could actually be interesting. 😀

    Agree. A government forced health care will just be another major money fraud. I believe there should be reform but not replace with a government run system.

    Why? Other countries do it without going bankrupt.

    Don’t give me that ‘healthcare rationing’ and ‘poor quality’ shit– mistakes are made with any sort of business model, including ours. Just the model now, just private healthcare, ensures that there will always be anecdotal, cute, emotional horror stories. It means nothing.

    If the reasoning behind “health care will be rationed if it’s done by the government” is that “rationing is bad because it leads to people not getting care”, well congratu-fucking-lations, the private market offers that impact as well and I call nonuniqueness on anyone’s ass who claims that. You’ve got to tell me where a simplified system of very direct payments leads to MORE rationing than we have now, or that we will always have if we make even getting health care based on money.

    We already have healthcare rationing. Its done by the HMOs. If they don’t like your claim, they just deny it and stick you with the bill. Pregnant? Thats a choice, denied. Abused by spouse? Preexisting condition, denied. Unexplained bleeding from the nipple? No reason for panic, not an emergency, denied. Cost too much to cover? Denied and canceled, but thanks for those previous payments.
