The sort of people Trump appoints to the Supreme Court are the sort of people who will ignore the Constitution in order to ban something they personally disagree with.

If he gets a second term, every bit of social progress since 1950 is doomed.

Doesn’t matter what he said or what she wished.. the president has an obligation to fill an empty SCOTUS seat.

Dying wishes do not hold any weight in this appointment.

If “the president has an obligation to fill an empty SCOTUS seat” was true then Merrick Garland would already be on the court.

RBG herself said “The president is elected for four years not three years, so the power he has in year three continues into year four.” Bad Orange Man™ gets to make the nomination.
I’m sure if any Republican president nominated a SCOTUS judge in front of a Democratic controlled Senate, they’d pull the same political maneuvering that happened with Garland. And confirming any nominee won’t be a piece of cake at all — I’m sure Democrats can get Christine Blasey Ford to testify that Amy Coney Barrett gang raped her at a different party in high school.

If that were true then Merrick Garland would already be on the court.
