The Mummy review

81SnIWN3GML. SL1500 796x1024 The Mummy

Tom Cruise stars in this spectacular version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Absolutely fantastic movie that I truly regret not seeing in theaters. The special effects were on point, the acting was great and the plot made a whole lot of sense, all of which was panned by the critics, incorrectly so in my humble opinion. I really hope this movie finds it’s audience in DVD sales, the Universal Dark Universe has some good stuff coming if they’re all of this caliber.

The effects were good, but the script was garbage.
The funny really wasn’t funny, the emotional pay-offs were cheap, and the homage bits really didn’t work either.
And Tom’s plastic surgery might be pretty good, but he’s starting to look like an effect himself.
This movie would have worked better with a younger lead, a funnier side kick, and a female lead with real charisma instead of just physical good looks.

You know….like the one with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz…

Yeah…but if they were trying for less humor, then the jokes they did try shouldn’t have been as stupid as they were.
Plus I got absolutely no chemistry between Tom and the generic blonde…so no payoff for the beig save…
It really didn’t work, all around.
