Well, for starters, I don’t think he’s real. If he is, they’ve shaved the poor bastard. Ham In A Can didn’t look like this.

He looks pretty old.
I think all of the space chimps were young….less than 4 or 5.

They had to be young to be controllable. An adult chimp could rip you limb from limb if it had a mind to. I’ve posted a picture of poor little Ham reaching for an apple after his space flight. He’s not smiling. That’s a chimp ‘fear grimace.’
