@...Puulaahi: The Strykers are the shit, very nice to ride in. Everyone talks up the MRAPs, but they are more or less up-armored dump trucks, and they ride like it. You could not pay me enough to be in one, they hurt. You are literally thrown into the roof if you do not have the 5 point harness on, even for small bumps (think running over a high school text book) They are blind in the back to, which makes them a target.
@...clawoo: You’ve got no clue. Iraq is pretty much like Kosovo now. The only shooting that happens is by the Iraqi army, and then only because they are dumb and shoot themselves in the foot. Been here 3 months (outside the wire almost every day) and I’ve not shot a round yet. MY Platoon has only shot ~ 6-8 rounds, and that was after someone took shots at us.
I won’t get into the fact that Iraq had the 3rd largest army in the world. Or the fact that it was lead by the only person to have used chemical weapons since WWI (could be wrong, Japan might have used them on China during WWII I’m foggy there). Development wise it is not very different from some former USSR(euro) countries.
They happen to be (mostly) Muslim, but I’ve got no problem with that. They might have missed, but then so did the Jews (IMO). At least they are not pretending to be Christian (looking @... you Utah). After all Mohamed said that people of the book (Christians, Jews) should be allowed to live peacefully so long as they followed the laws. He ordered everyone else killed. Religious tolerance. Remember I an not an infidel. I am just misguided.

As I have noted in an earlier post, you can support the troops without supporting the war. This was one of the major sticking points I had with Howdy-Doody in the White House, and why he’s pretty much guaranteed that no republican will get into the White House for the next few terms unless Obama destroys us as a country somehow, which Bush seemed far more likely to do than Obama does.
But wow, saying “Fuck you” to me? “Seriously?” That hurt. I think I need to go back to my hugbox and throw on some My Chemical Romance and cut myself, because I have obviously NEVAR been hurt this bad in all of my life. /wrists

Did it occur to you that perhaps our good soldier up there had no money, therefore needed to get into the Army, thereby granting him a job?
Also, I have no idea how you can confuse IEDs, RPGs, or AK47s with sticks, but that’s quite a leap of faith.
