Watched it at college so many years ago…blew me away. Dafoe really is a versatile actor, when he was doing his Green Goblin routine in Spiderman it reminded me of his acting in this. I also hear the sequel is FINALLY under way…
I agree that it is a must have in ones collection. Also worth a download to get the NC-17 version that is just a tad more graphic in certain scenes.

I agree, both overrated and great. Unfortunately the director has his head too far up his ass.

They’re shooting the sequel with the same fat tub of shit directing his own faggy lame ass script right around me. “hey want to be in a movie?” “whats it called?” “Boondock Saints Two!…hey why are you walking away?”.
Not great, but I didn’t demand my 2hours back. It was what I expected: a loud silly popcorn muncher.
Solid, fun movie.

And what a fucking cop out ending. At least have the balls, whoever the director was, to take a stance. The open-ended, interview people on the street for their opinions was totally weak. Who the fuck cares what those idiots think anyway? Finish the goddamn story. Don’t weasel out of coming down pro or con, just because you’re worried people might not like your movie if you pick the “wrong” side. God, this movie is fucking excrement.
