Opinion The amazing Hubble Telescope has suddenly stopped working

On April 24, 1990, the Space Shuttle Discovery was launched. Discovery’s engines and boosters thundered away as the spacecraft was pushed upward with over a million pounds of thrust. It achieved orbit in a mere eight and a half minutes.

“Suddenly”? Only thirty years after launch. That telescope doesn’t owe us a whole lot; the warranty expired a while ago.

    tiki god

this is true, but at the same time I like the phrasing, as I feel it’ll help give it a few more years of life, especially for something as simple as this issue is. I remember right after it went up they had to do an emergency flight to it to give it ‘glasses’ because the mirrors inside weren’t focusing properly.
