Just… please don’t go to the movies when theaters re-open OK

Regal and AMC theaters are preparing to re-open in the midst of a global pandemic that’s spun out of control in the United States. What a terrible idea.

For fun and because I’m curious I looked into how they’re doing the seating at the AMC near us. It’s laughable. So all seats have to be reserved, they’re spacing each group of tickets bought in each row with one empty seat (so not 6 feet), and there is no spacing between rows (again, not 6 feet).

If people wouldn’t have tried to equate “stay home unless you have to go out and wear a mask when you do” with tyranny this shit would be over and we’d all be back at the movies as normal.

If Trump hadn’t undone all the preparation that the W Bush and Obama Administrations had put in place to identify and quickly deal with Pandemic viruses AND had taken the virus seriously for a hot minute in January, February, and early March instead of Golfing and holding rallies it would have never gotten this far. We would have been a thousand times better off with W Bush as President for chrissake, let THAT sink in and VOTE BLUE early.

The cinema industry is teetering on collapse (especially AMC, which was close to bankruptcy even before Covid) — they’re keen to try anything to survive. I suppose if more theaters permanently shutter and real estate gets released, It just means more warehouse space for Amazon fulfillment centers?

AMC was doing just fine in the before times, they had just finished a nearly global revamp of their theaters and were making money by the bucket load with their A-List program.

The debt they had from that revamp has been restructured and they’re making payments on it with the revenues they’re getting from outside of the US. while it’s a much smaller market, it’s sustainable.
