Stargate: Continuum review

51I1KjNS1L Stargate: Continuum

An elite military unit (SG-1) must flee back to Earth when two members of their team inexplicably disappear into thin air. But they return to a world in which the Stargate – an Ancient device which allows them to travel to hundreds of planets – was never discovered, and their own history has been erased. Now they must convince a dubious government and military that the timeline was altered by a powerful Alien enemy (Ba’al) in order to conquer Earth, and time is not on their side…

I got a hankerin for some Stargate : SG1 over the weekend, so I brought this out out of containment, didn’t even bother to read the back of the box. I regret doing that, because as I DO like the cast of SG-1 (yes, even the second team), I strongly dislike pretty much every time travel story that I’ve run into over the last 15 years.

This one was no different, and it was obvious that much of the time travel stuff was done so they could save on set budgets. Somewhat enjoyable, but bleh to the time travel.

I enjoyed almost all of the stargate shows and movies. This movie wasn’t their strongest but I really did not like the whole Ori crap. That is where the show lost me.

One of the best episodes though for sg-1 was the time loop episode, so not all time related content is bad. I do agree though on most time travel content in shows. All it can do is act as filler and unless it is fun filler any drama created is false drama as the show is going to return back to how it was at the end of the episode or movie.

Back to the Future, The Time Machine (not the remake), Donnie Darko, 12 Monkies, The original Terminator and Terminator 2, The Butterfly Effect, Primer (lesser known but good one), Time Bandits, Dejavu, Final Countdown, Dr Who, and one of my favorites Triangle. That’s just a few off the top of my head. Not all of them are for everyone but there are a few great movies in there that aren’t bad. Now if you mean time travel stuff in shows that aren’t about time travel then yes for the most part it has no place and turns out bad most of the time.

lol that is just how my mind works. See like I said not all of them are for everyone. I can see how you might not like that one.
