Beautiful plane but …. a high-speed, light-weight tank of avgas. What could go wrong? The bailout was high risk. Small hatch. Very near the stbd prop. Nav had to go first or the pilot was trapped. Apparently.
One of the last wood airplanes manufactured for military service. It was fast and maneuverable.
The Wooden Wonder, very high on my list of favourite aircraft.
