I don’t know if you remember the video games of your youth, but have you ever considered that if you think a game is good, graphics don’t matter that much?
Tetris isn’t one of my favorite games ever, but I bet I could lose myself dropping blocks while listening to Russian midi music for at least an hour right this instance.

Survival looked appealing on youtube but I can’t test it out (the free/original is, as trap said, mind bogglingly pointless – No offense to OP but once you’d build one floor what was the appeal to do the rest? at least time sinks like MMOs give a twist on monotony)

What do you have against classic? It lets you build awesome shit, as in the core purpose of minecraft.
It’s too easy. Like playing a game with all cheats enabled.
Classic is useful to plan a structure before going ahead and devoting resources to it in SMP/Beta.
Once you experience better graphics, you can’t go back to playing NES in first person.
