Basically 1984 with one more party.

People should read that book. People use it as shorthand for a lot of stupid stuff, which makes people develop a knee-jerk reaction of disregarding what they say, but it’s a surprisingly prescient read of what the future would be.

    1984 – it wasn’t supposed to be a manual.

You think these are exclusive to the US? Don’t be so naive.

Rest of the world has problems too. Many of them much worse than the US’s.

This isn’t about the rest of the world.

When I get stressed about politics/economics/whatever, I have a simple solution: turn off the news. No TV, no newspaper, no internet. Just appreciate the world around me as it actually is instead of how it’s portrayed in the media. Takes about a week to realize that shit’s not nearly as bad as the news would have you believe.

You do realize that your country has been doing stuff like this since the Second World War? It’s nothing new, don’t feel like you’re so special.

Are people still getting all uppity because their junk is getting patted down?

And the government isn’t censoring your TV. Shut it off and read a book.
