tl;dr
Ah, I got it now. The Hollywood remake fever has been a topic of cnviersatoon lately in my movie group so I have it on the brain. 🙂 What I really dislike is cut-down versions and dubs that change the meaning, whether anime or movies. Some of the American DVDs releases of Hong Kong films are travesties of the originals, and you see the same thing with anime sometimes. I always want to see the real thing and that’s one of the reasons I turn on the subtitles for an anime series whenever I have the option.
