pipes? they are admittedly hot, but they’re just screaming. and there’s nothing special about screaming. I like the music (and vocals), but using the word “pipes” seems like a word reserved for someone who can actually sing.

on the other hand, chick singers in metal and punk bands have moved a long way away from sounding like Siouxie (and the Banshees) – who I could not stand.

and at the risk of sounding even more sexist (and troll-ish) and starting some kind of internet word battle…. there’s just something about metal bands with girl singers that seems weird to me. the anger seems anti-feminine.

of course that contradicts everything I’ve ever experienced with the women in my life so I’m not sure why I feel that way… I guess because I grew up in an era of cock-rock and posing (which I also couldn’t stand) and is, in retrospect, sort of feminine. so really maybe it’s just the natural progression of things and I’m stuck in the past…
