omfg!! what a great post. one of my weirdest (?), most haunting memories as a child was watching them sing and mourn over Mothra.

If you want to recapture that (non-)sense of weird, check the 3 minute “Monkey Bee” song video. It helps to turn your head sideways like the RCA Victor Dalmatian at the gramophone. The Butch Cassidy undead army ending is the stuff of nightmares.
