Batman is generally the most badass character in DC, but there have been times in which some writers thought they should try to up the drama with some of this whiny shit.
This kind of crap was usually relegated to the cover, which often had very little to do wtih the story (a practice that I believe started in the 70’s and lasted for far too long).
Why?! Because I’m the God Damned Batman!
