Star Trek (2013 video game) game review
The award-winning Star Trek game casts players for the first time ever as Kirk and Spock in a totally original co-op experience worthy of gamers and fans. Set in the new canon of director and producer J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009) reboot, players will be immersed in the game’s rich story and action-packed combat.
Under development by acclaimed Ontario-based developers Digital Extremes (Bioshock 2, Dark Sector, The Darkness 2), Star Trek features an original story by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk, in collaboration with the writer/producers of the new Star Trek films, Bob Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof.
This game got knocked hard when it game out a couple years ago, but frankly I’m scratching my head as to why. I’m not the greatest fan of the alternate reality crew, but this game isn’t the horrible thing that I was made to think it was. Looking over the metacritic reviews, it looks like the complaints are about co-op not working at release, crap graphics and linear story telling. The co-op was addressed within a week or so of release and the graphics, while nothing to really sing about are what you would expect for a movie tie in game for the xbox 360. I played it on the PC though, so for me the graphics were pretty damn good.
The story is linear, there’s no way to get around that though, not with the type of story that they’re trying to tell in this. They expertly captured the feel and pace of the two movies, for better or worse. The game is set after the first movie and you’re helping the Vulcans do their thing and the Gorn come in and kick sand in everyone’s faces. Queue intergalactic fights and you get your quick and easy video game.
For $60, I’d be bitching, but I got this for $4 on steam a few months ago. My big complaint? the damn mini games, they were waaaay too repetitive, seemed like every door had one or two. Major props though for having the original cast reprising their roles, that was pretty damn cool.

Captain America : Civil War review
Iron Man and Captain America face off.
The hype was true, every bit of it. I loved every second of this film, especially the Spider-man stuff. There wasn’t a whole lot of Spider-man stuff there, but what little bit we got? It was awesome. Really makes me look forward to the Spider-man movie that’s coming out in a while.

Dead Island : Riptide game review
Tags:Dead Island, Game Reviews, Gaming
- Addictive open world RPG style gameplay that allows characters to go anywhere throughout the game’s zombie infested environments
- A variety of distinct characters including the four surviving characters from the first game (Xian Mei, Sam B, Logan Carter, and Purna), as well as a brand new character
- A variety of vehicle types, new levels and weather conditions, weapon proficiency (melee and projectile weapons), Hub defense game mechanics
- Evolved, and engrossing multiplayer, including co-op support
Did you play the first Dead Island? Did you enjoy it? This is more of the same, with little to no new mechanics or story line innovation. The parts with the boat at the very beginning were interesting, but that was about it. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it wasn’t very interesting and it too me and my co-op partner nearly 2 months to get through the story, it was that boring.
