  • Comic sales are down as readers abandon print

Comic book and graphic novel sales fell 6.5% in 2017 from a 2016 high of $1.015 billion. Graphic novels brought in $570 million while comic books brought in about $350 million. A report posted to Comichron notes that comic stores are still the biggest source for revenue while $90 million is attribuâ?¦

I’m not entirely surprised by the decline in print media, I’ve gotten back into the actual floppies in the last year or so and the experience has been painful to say the least, all the characters I know and love are vastly different and seem to be presenting strong political viewpoints. That’s all fine and well but man I’m here to read comics not have a female version of every comic books character having uninteresting adventures.

    The Green Hornet review

    21S2AWP7SVL The Green Hornet

After Bruce Lee’s untimely death in 1973 and the global success of enter the dragon two 90 min feature films were created to capitalize on lees world wide stardom. The green hornet has never been released on dvd until now. So come and get it while it last.

Not the full TV series and not the goofy action comedy that starred Seth Rogan, this is the combination of three episodes from the 60’s show that were ill advisedly mashed together with other action scenes to make one long movie. The sum product doesn’t work very well, but the original episodes are pretty fun. There’s some big game hunters going after mob bosses, a “man from mars” type of episode, then an incredibly unfortunate asian stereotyping episode where all the asians are either kungfu bruisers from Chinatown or Chinese restraunt owners from Chinatown. The first two episodes are great, especially the spaceman one, I honestly didn’t know which way they were going to turn with it and they went the right way for the tone of the show. The third episode was curious considering the second star in their show (and honestly the best fighter on the show) was Asian.

I don’t recommend watching this ‘movie’ but I do recommend watching the episodes, it was a great series that still hasn’t gotten the love it deserves.

    The Hunger Games Collection review

    51NOUpP7yEL The Hunger Games Collection

The Hunger Games The Hunger Games is a trilogy of young adult dystopian novels written by American novelist Suzanne Collins. The series is set in The Hunger Games universe, and follows young characters Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.Catching Fire – After arriving safely home from their unprecedented victory in the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) discover that they must do a quick turnaround and begin a Victors Tour. As she and Peeta travel throughout the districts, Katniss senses a rebellion is stirring. However, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) proves that he is still very much in control when word comes of a cruel change in the rules for the upcoming 75th Hunger Games.MOCKINGJAY Pt.1 – Following her rescue from the devastating Quarter Quell, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) awakes in the complex beneath the supposedly destroyed District 13. Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem — a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.MOCKINGJAY Pt. 2 – Realizing the stakes are no longer just for survival, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with her closest friends, including Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick for the ultimate mission. Together, they leave District 13 to liberate the citizens of war-torn Panem and assassinate President Snow, who’s obsessed with destroying Katniss. What lies ahead are mortal traps, dangerous enemies and moral choices that will ultimately determine the future of millions.

Four films in four years from 2012-2015, this was an absolute sprint of a story, one that I’m still shocked worked as well as it did, and didn’t get a follow up prequel / sequel series of movies. It’s difficult to remember when Jennifer Lawrence was still a relatively unknown, previously her only movie role was in X-Men: First Class, which to be honest is not my favorite role of hers. She did pretty well here and the lack of a physical jump between the last two movies leads me to suspect that a large portion of the content was filmed at the same time.
