Super Bomberman R

 Super Bomberman R

With Peter von Gomm, Jon Sabay, Jeff Gedert, Jeff Manning. Emperor Buggler resurrects five robots to be his new henchmen and proclaims his goal to conquer the universe. Bomberman brother White immediately takes up the challenge and forces his siblings to come with him.

My god what the hell were they thinking with this story? And these characters? And this gameplay? Absolute trash that I gave up on after the 100th time I blew myself up because the game can’t figure out which direction it wanted the bombs to go: in front of me or behind me? Who knows! Sorry, you just blew yourself up AGAIN!

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL VS. RONAN 1 323x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
The Supreme Intelligence plays around with Captain Marvel (who’s a combination of two people at this time) and then at the end of it, just spirits him away to an unknown corner of the universe.

KICK ASS 12 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
I’m a fan of this cover, but the content inside is great too. The bad guy here has an unfortunate similarity to Marvel’s Juggernaut, and that’s all I could think of the entire time he appeared.

STAR WARS AGE OF REPUBLIC COUNT DOOKU 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
Count Dooku was never in my top 100 Star Wars villains, but this story certainly did him justice.

TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION EXTREMIS MALIS 2 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
Diamond neglected to ship #1, so I’ll wait for the entire series now to read this. Thanks, I hate it.

HIT GIRL SEASON TWO 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
This story is as contrived and offensive as possible, something that I guess I should have expected, but it’s not offensive in the way that red hats are, it’s offensive in that it’s directly comparing kids killing each other in American schools. Not something that I thought I’d ever see Kevin Smith write in a comic book, and definitely not something I’m a fan of. This book came out during the anniversary of a shooting in Florida, in which 17 children were murdered by one of their peers, then the state government did absolutely nothing about the problem. I’m sorry, they did blame the victims, that was great. They blamed the police who responded too, and they blamed the school board, but heaven forbid they blame the easy access to weapons.

THE PUNISHER 8 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
The Punisher’s face and head are all messed up in this book, I’m honestly curious how they’re going to make him look more like Frank again and less like Jigsaw.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MAR VELL 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
I’m pretty sure this is the issue that immediately proceeds Carol Danver’s first meeting with the Kree warrior that was previously a True Believers issue as well. Is this the first time that two issues of True Believers are of the same series sequentially?

ACCELL 18 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
    He’s made of balls apparently.

LIVEWIRE 3 330x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
I had to go back and re-read #2 to really know what was going on here, but I’m still lost now.

OBLIVION SONG 12 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
This went directly into my “read this later” pile, I have issues 1-2 and now 10-12, just need to fill that massive hole in the middle there.

STAR WARS HAN SOLO IMPERIAL CADET 4 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 13th, 2019
Han Solo: Imperial Cadet can do no wrong!

    Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc

     Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

With David Gasman, John Leguizamo, Billy West, Ken Starcevic. Andre, the leader of the Black Lums transforms other Red Lums into Black Lums to join him. Rayman should save the world before all black lums give power to the dangerous killing machine Reflux.

Great game for the time period it was published in, but I don’t have personal nostalgia for the game, so the bad camera and wonky audio turned me off enough to just turn the game off about half way through.

    Capsule

    th 2dK2iZ1E2gVaiyCz16ao2Nz4aawQMW9P 203x300 Capsule

After years of flying fighter planes and 5 years as test pilot, Guy is now, Dec. 4, 1959, on a secret British space capsule orbiting Earth trying to reenter but things start going wrong. Can he, despite cold war, get back to Earth safely?

As far I can tell, this is purely fictional. It’s a one man show (until it suddenly very much isn’t) and it has some problems with pacing and there was a point with some of the people he was talking to over the radio that I just gave up on my suspension of disbelief.

final score poster 202x300 Final Score

After deadly terrorists abduct his niece at a soccer match, an ex-soldier with lethal fighting skills (Dave Bautista) wages a one-man war to save her and prevent mass destruction.

Dave Bautista! 30 seconds of Pierce Brosnan! It’s like Die Hard set in a stadium full of people that don’t know they’re hostages and implausibly not a single one of them has to leave the stadium during the entire run of the movie, nor does anyone throw a tantrum when all the cell phones stop working.

I enjoyed this for what it is, but boy howdy are there some silly bits in there.

    Tetris 99

Tetris is getting into the battle royale mindset with the announcement and release of this new 99 player PvP game.

    Mortal Engines

    91yu7SPgauL. RI SX300 225x300 Mortal Engines

Peter Jackson presents a world unlike any you’ve seen. A young woman leads a band of outcasts to stop London, a predator city on wheels, from devouring everything in its path.

There’s a great movie here under and behind all the world building and unnecessarily overwrought plot elements. There was a point where they were layering yet another bit in with a cyborg that I just rolled my eyes. I get that this is based off a book series that has a ton of back story, but the movie really didn’t need those extra elements. Additionally I was somewhat confused by where everyone was, because at one point we were in the deep south with (yes really) red necks in giant monster car cities, then seemingly in the next scene we were in the far east fighting mystical Chinese people that made a giant wall to keep out the riff raff.

I look forward to inevitably reading the books the movie was culled from, hopefully they’ll fill in some of the problems I had with the movie.

    Krypton TV Series 2018-

     Krypton (TV Series 2018– )

Created by David S. Goyer, Damian Kindler. With Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Shaun Sipos, Ann Ogbomo. The untold story of Superman’s grandfather as he fights for justice on his home planet.

I finally got around to watching season one. Why it took me so long? Comic book television fatigue, I have way too many mediocre comic book related television shows on my dvr to keep up with them all in a timely manner. I’m going to stop watching a few of them because honestly, I can read the wikipedia entry for the season and save about 20 hours of my life. One series that I’m not going to do this with though is Krypton, this first season was amazingly strong and didn’t rely on standard comic book tv tropes to survive and actually went places with it’s story.

    Milkcap Krazy 1994

This VHS tape is an absolute gem from the height of the mid-90s POG craze… errr, excuse me, “milkcap” craze. Hosted by the ever-so-radical Jesse Hynes, THE…

I still own a tube of these things, it’s somewhere in a closet. I don’t think I ever did play with them even once though, because they were an INVESTMENT, not a toy.

    Bloodstained Curse of the Moon

     Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon

    Directed by Hiroki Miyazawa.

It’s a Castlevania-esque game in which I found no interest. It was free though, so worth the price of admission.

I have one of those fancy fitbits that has a heart monitor on it, but I think I like the idea of the toilet better.

How to Train Your Dragon The Hidden World

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

Directed by Dean DeBlois. With Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, F. Murray Abraham, Cate Blanchett. When Hiccup discovers Toothless isn’t the only Night Fury, he must seek “The Hidden World”, a secret Dragon Utopia before a hired tyrant named Grimmel finds it first.

A fun movie with an uninspiring story, but backed up with beautiful visuals and excellent voice over work. It’s obvious this is the final chapter of the story, at least for the movies, who knows if they’re going to add more television series.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL BINARY 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
The X-Men in space, along with a depowered Carol Danvers, encounter some aliens that do experiments on Carol. She ends up with “Binary” powers and uses them to recharge the x-men’s warp drive to send them on their way, while rejecting her human heritage. She then goes on to wander space.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL EARTHS MIGHTIEST HERO 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
One of the more recent True Believer books I’ve read, this is the story of how she went from the cutesy “Ms Marvel” to using the more badass name of “Captain Marvel”. It’s a fun story.

SUPERB 17 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
