The Domestics

Directed by Mike P. Nelson. With Kate Bosworth, Tyler Hoechlin, Sonoya Mizuno, Lance Reddick. In the weeks following an apocalyptic event, a husband and wife venture across the countryside inhabited by deadly factions in search of safety, and must work together as they are pushed to the breaking point in order to survive.

Tyler Hoechlin is the new superman in the Supergirl TV series. He’s pretty cool in that show. And that’s Kate Bosworth, who only looks kinda familiar in the movie, and played Lois Lane in the much maligned Superman Returns, which remains my favorite Superman flick to this day. Even though both of these actors are amazing, there’s nothing Super about this film, it has a familiar story with a post apocalyptic setting, but doesn’t have the scope or editing to make it feel real.

Time Travel and a precocious kid. Sprinkle in some hyper violence and superpowers that are vague, yet powerful and you have the umbrella academy! It’s not a great show, but it’s watchable.
