  • Avenue 5

Created by Armando Iannucci. With Hugh Laurie, Joshua Viner, Josh Gad, Zach Woods. Space captain Ryan Clark of the Avenue 5 tries to get along with others in the space tourism industry.

I’m throwing in the towel after just two episodes, I had high hopes, but this series just doesn’t take itself seriously, which is fine, but it’s trying to be a science fiction comedy in which they have no understanding of the science behind the things they’re joking about. I spend more time rolling my eyes at stupid people doing stupid things than I did laughing, which is unfortunate, I was really happy to see Hugh Laurie back on television, but whatever this show is, it’s not for me.

    Venom Inc

It’s an amazingly lethal Spider-Man/Venom epic! Peter Parker, Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson share a bond – literally! The Venom symbiote changed all of their lives. Now the inky black alien life-form is doubling down on our heroes – and they won’t be the only ones put through the wringer. Black Cat and her gang are confronted by an amped-up villain called Maniac, who will show everyone how well he lives up to his name. And all the while, Venom Inc. weaves its tendrils through New York’s criminal underworld… You’ve never read a Spidey and Venom story like this!

A cross over advertised as “The first Spider-man and Venom cross over!” but that’s just marketing BS, Spidey and Venom have had plenty of cross-overs, guest appearances, and other assorted plot transfers. This story is just as convoluted as a comic books story can be with multiple versions of venom fighting each other with abilities that seem to change with every other issue. There’s mind control, splitting of symbiots, fire resistance, and giantism, all along with the normal goopy mess that Venom is known for.

The art was good for the most part, the story very much less so. Venom has been a narrative mess for years now.
