    I laugh at the fact we, as humans and artists, haven’t been able to imagine other beings that don’t have the typical traits of eyes, nose, mouth, arms, fingers, etc.

    It’s almost as if each creature (or alien or whatever) is modeled after us.

    No, they’ve been able, but until we actually see an alien, anything we come up with that doesn’t have something familiar in it will look laughable.

    The odds of an alien environment being so drastically different from ours that life there follows such a distinctly different evolutionary path from ours that they don’t share even the basic components of life here in a solar system close enough to us that we’d ever encounter them are crazy as shit, son.

    Also it’s alot easier for a writer to write from the point of view of something vaguely mammalian than that of a cloud of thought and energy whilst maintaining a coherent and entertaining storyline.

    You’re completely ignoring our point. Our physical traits were decided by our environment, and the odds are that an alien race would have at least a vaguely similar environment.

    These dudes, at least, come from somewhere with an oxygen atmosphere that’s probably largely savannah.
