This is a picture of my 1 liter of beer next to my water glass at the Widmer Brothers Gasthaus pub.
’09 Belegian Style Ale. This beer is a meal all on it’s own.
If you happen to be in Portland, OR I highly recommend the Gasthaus pub. The food and beer are both excellent and they have a really interesting association with a local home brewing club. Through their Collaborator program, they pick great beers of various styles, produce them in the brewery, and put them on tap in the Gasthaus.
How much of a meal are we talking about? Guinness style or New Holland brewing company style ?
Beer should only be served in one liter increments. Seriously, one 12oz beer just leaves me wanting two or four more. But downing a liter of beer leaves me satisfied and wanting a Dominican cigar.

I suggest the Green Dragon on 9th and Belmont, my favorite bar/bistro. They have a website you can check out their tap list that changes weekly.
