    This is called a Torii. I once made a kite in the shape of a torii out of bamboo and rice paper. – it actually flew pretty well.

    It’S the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine – it only appears to be floating at high tide – at low tide you can walk up to it. It’s actually built on stone piers in the harbor across a natural channel.
