The Godzilla franchise is a multimedia series featuring the monster Godzilla, owned and created by Toho. It is recognized by Guinness World Records to be the longest continuously running movie franchise, having been in on-going production from 1954 to the present day. The film franchise consists of 32 films produced by Toho and three Hollywood films. A reboot by Toho was released in July 2016 while Legendary Pictures is proceeding with a shared cinematic franchise of their own with Godzilla: King of the Monsters to be released on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong to be released on May 22, 2020.
