View from atop Mt. Everest

Explanation: What would it be like to stand atop the tallest mountain on Earth? To see a full panoramic vista from there, scroll right. Visible are snow peaked mountains near and far, tremendous cliffs, distant plateaus, the tops of clouds, and a dark blue sky. Mt. Everest stands 8.85 kilometers above sea level, roughly the maximum height reached by international airplane flights, but much less than the 300 kilometers achieved by a space shuttle. Hundreds of people have tried and failed to climb the behemoth by foot, a feat first accomplished successfully in 1953. About 1000 people have now made it to the summit. Roddy Mackenzie, who climbed the mountain in 1989, captured the above image. Mt. Everest lies in the Himalaya mountains in the country of Nepal. In the native language of Nepal, the mountain’s name is “Sagarmatha” which means “forehead of the sky

Fiction becomes reality

I found this just minutes after writing something about this presidential election seeming more like something from TV than something to be taken seriously. Kinda ironic… and very amusing.

Don’t piss your smoke on me!

PLEASE DON’T SMOKE
Cigarette smoke is the residue of your pleasure.
It fouls the air, my clothes, hair and lungs without my consent.
I too have pleasures. One of which is beer.
The residue of beer is urine.
Would you be annoyed if I stood on a chair
and pissed on your head and clothes without your consent?

Concept Magnet Car

Interesting. Until you realize it’s basically a road going maglev vehicle… Minus the lev. Using ultra powerful magnets embedded in the road… I’m not sure this is a particularly practical solution…
Looks cool though.

Little GTO

1968 Pontiac GTO
So the starter went out in my car, so while I pine for my baby, I decided to look up some more muscle car porn to distract myself. I though this be a certainly nice one to share.
The 1968 GTO was probably one of the baddest looking cars ever to be made. Imagine driving through the desert, middle of nowhere, and this monster is trailing you. You know your car can’t outrun it.

French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana, 2000

Shot in infrared, New Orleans’ French Quarter seems bathed in blue early one morning. The oldest neighborhood in the city, the quarter is a national historic landmark and a popular tourist destination.
