Watching this after being scolded by my entire office when I mentioned that I hadn’t seen it yet, it’s a delightfully cheesy movie with a confusing plot and lots of racist humor, a true period piece of what American thought of other races in the 80’s.  It unfortunately hasn’t aged well, I can only imagine how I would have liked it if I had watched it when it first came out.

  • Dashcam – Jeep Carjacked, Crashes (911 Audio Included)

Wichita, KS – This is amazing dash cam footage of a Jeep being carjacked from an unidentified man by gunpoint. Little did they know that the man had a dash cam and it catches the whole thing from start to when the thief loses control and crashes into a light pole at over 46 mph!

I have a dashcam in my car, it’s pretty sweet, the best I’ve gotten is a girl flashing someone else way off in the distance.

    Post-Human Series Books 1-4 review

Humanity has made a leap into the future, but are they ready for what they’ll become?

This is the second novel that I’ve read through Amazon’s (new?) “Kindle Unlimited” program, the first of which was Angles of Attack, which was a great novel in of itself.  The Post-Human Series popped up as a suggested read after I was done with Angles of Attack, and since I’m always in the search for great Singularity fiction I figured I’d give it a try, and I’m really happy I did.  The series is always on the cusp of being too cheesy or pulling back, but unlike some other Singularity stories, the Post-Human series takes the obvious choices and follows the story where it should logically go.  There’s a couple twists half way through that I haven’t seen in this genre before, which is surprising as I’ve read every Singularity book I could get my grubby fingers on.

Where the Wild Things Are review

61agLRKSZ2L. SX940 Where the Wild Things Are

One of the most beloved books of all time is now a feature film. A classic story about childhood and the places we go to figure out the world we live in.

Based off a short story with less than 400 words, they really had to stretch to make a 2 hour movie> Luckily they did pretty well in scripting something that vaguely resembles the original children’s story, but with some real emotional punch.  That being said, this wasn’t the story that I wanted to watch when I watched an adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are.

On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness Episode One game review

Upon beginning the story, you’ll quickly find that your home on the lovely Desperation Street has been flattened by a giant robot (specifically, a mammoth version of longtime Penny Arcade antagonist the Fruit Fucker). You’ll soon join forces with PA main characters Tycho Brahe and John Gabriel, paranormal detectives, as you investigate a mysterious infestation of mimes and smaller Fruit Fuckers throughout town.

I shouldn’t have been surprised at how shallow this game was, it had some fairly boring game mechanics and it had more of an idea of a plot that an actual plot.  Much could be said for the comic strip the guys run, it sometimes has good ideas, but they’re usually spread out between some pretty horrible ideas.  I got this several years ago and it festered in my Steam backlog, along with it’s three other episodes, and it was only after I put together a list of every game I have on ever game system (360/ps3/steam/gog/desure/et al) that I realized how many games have been sitting around being unplayed for years and years on end, and how much I actually wanted to play the Penny Arcade games.  I’m not disappointed in this one, I’m just hoping they learned from this episode and the next one will be an evolutionary step in quality and storytelling.
