He tried to treat it with horse de-wormer rather than standard treatment. Had he just gotten the damn thing removed, he'd still be alive. He had no biological children, so this counts as a Darwin Award. His conversion to Christianity was based on the cynical Pascal's Wager, which fails to take into account Christianity possibly being offensive to the Powers That Be.
