At the age of 27, The Fourth Kind (2009) made me afraid of the dark for several weeks. I always felt like some Inca god was going to snap my spine.

“The Thing from Another World” fucked me up, the pure terror of being stuck in a building with an unstoppable creature of unknown origins just broke my brain.

That fear is why I’ve never seen the remake by John Carpenter.

Arachnophobia. There was a period of time where so-called “kid-friendly horror movies” were a thing. This one made per arachnophobic to this day.

Jaws. I couldn’t even swim in a pool without getting creeped out.

“Carnival of Souls” weirded me out to no end, but it was “The Last Man on Earth” with Vincent Price that gave me trauma.

I haven’t seen it, but the whole movie is on youtube for free, so I’m about to watch it sometime soon:

Tremors. Ruined the backyard for me that summer.

Lol. Daylight horror; the only kind of horror film I can watch.

The Tripods was just a TV show. And it aired in the afternoon in German TV in the 80s. So my mum didn’t really catch the traumatizing potential. But I still get irritated when I hear the theme song. The whole series is on Youtube now apparently. They sadly never produced the final season.
