Under the Silver Lake

Directed by David Robert Mitchell. With Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, Topher Grace, Callie Hernandez. Sam, a disenchanted young man, finds a mysterious woman swimming in his apartment’s pool one night. The next morning, she disappears. Sam sets off across LA to find her, and along the way he uncovers a conspiracy far more bizarre.

I expected more from David Robert Mitchell, but as weird as “It Follows” was, I guess “Under The Silver Lake” fits right in with his style of movies.

This is a movie you can watch a couple of times and always find something new. I really like it. Probably enhanced by watching on substance use.

Hm. Weird for the sake of being weird makes me way less intrigued. Love me some weirdness, but its got to have lots around it that’s not weird at all, so it resonates the right way. Good weird is sublime with just the right dash of ridiculous, and not a drop more. Andrew Garfield’s ass isn’t a drawcard for me, though it wouldn’t offend me to see it on screen. Would imagine that like it was less weird to see than odd without lycra covering it.

    Thanks for the recommend.
