Jim Starlin, the man who created Thanos (the main villain of the MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War) is not content to simply let James Gunn vanish with a snap of someone’s gauntleted fingers. 

I’ve come to the conclusion that this is my opinion as well, afterall what do we want from people that have horrible opinions? For them to change them! We can’t reward their change with punishment for past opinions.
