Under The Sun review

A fascinating portrait of one girl and her parents in the year as she prepares to join the Korean Children’s Union on the ‘Day Of The Shining Star’ (Kim Jong-Il’s birthday).

Sub titles make movies difficult for me to watch, especial with movies that have such rich imagery that I want to take in, so watching this led to a lot of pausing and rewinding to take in the various scenes. Great movie that raises all sorts of questions but doesn’t answer any of them, just leaves them for the viewer to ponder them.

My main ponderance: I would be spiteful and hateful to the world if I were a flower grower in North Korea. They waste so many flowers in how they show reverence / respect to the statues they worship.

Great film!
