I do wonder who this film really appeals to. You get a lot of action from an older action star (Vin’s turning 50 this year!) and the stunts all seem like they came out of a 1990’s Mountain Dew / X-Games commercial. The soundtrack was pumping and the sexiness was amped up to 11, though honestly, Ruby Rose was the only good looking gal in the flick. The plot and script was pretty horrible and you simply cannot think about any one of it’s plot elements for too long, you’ll grow less and less able to suspend disbelief. The CGI was unfortunate in a few scenes, but acceptable in others, but usually very noticable.
It was exactly what I thought it would be for better or worse, and I got exactly what I wanted from it, which was some mindless diversion from the ongoing political frustrations. My one big concern about the film, is that if I can’t figure out who they’re marketing the movie to, I seriously am unable to tell who they’re marketing the xXx: Return of Xander Cage movie novelization to. What there simply too much plot to be contained in just the movie?
I kinda want to find out.
