    oh for fuck’s sake. yet another reboot of a venerated franchise?

    how hard would it have been to just make this into a sequel that’s 30 years later and not this steaming pile of bullshit?

    I’m torn between my istinctive aversion to all things sequel-reboot-franchisy, and the sheer glee I get from seeing the misogynist meltdowns from the morons who think that a penis is somehow a prerequisite for busting ghosts.

    Having a penis isn’t, but doing it just for the sake of being female is off putting.

    That actually shouldn’t be a surprise considering Melissa McCarthy has made a career from her roles as the “HEY LOOK AT ME, I’M THE FAT ONE, CAN YOU SEE HOW FAT AND AWKWARD I AM WHILE I’M THE FAT ONE!?”.

    It’s all too forced.

    To do a women-only reboot on the idea that women bust ghosts differently is sexist.

    But hey, at least no one is calling out the fact that there are three white scientists and a plucky, street-smart blue collar African American.

    Only the thing is, they don’t do it differently- they do it the same way the original ghostbusters did it. With science and jokes. They pretty much just gender-swapped the cast.

    That’s my point – there is no difference.
    Ghostbusting is gender neutral. And yet the premise of the movie is that there is a difference, and it’s so big that it warrants a remake.

    Oh dear. This is a complete waste of these ladies’…sorry, WOMENS’ talents. A Ghostbusters reboot is just a bad idea all round. I don’t care who’s in it. Men. Women. Pugs. Sloths. Just don’t, ok? DON’T.

    The special effects are nice. The actresses don’t seem to have the proper chemistry. And HOO BOY is this derivative as fuck. Jeez, Feig… make up your own fucking ghosts.
