Neil Peart, the drummer and lyricist for the band RUSH.
At 62 years old he’s still one of the best drummers in the world.

Overrated, as is anything associated with Rush.
I own a used pair of his sticks.
Hey…..me too.
My buddy’s older brother was on their road crew.
As for being overrated….?
Maybe.
I’ve played in enough bands to know that there are dozens of guys in every town that can play every note exactly like you’ve heard it on every record you own, regardless of who.
Whether its guitar, drums, piano….so I don’t really get the whole “best musician” claim….about just about anyone.
One thing Peart did do was try some stuff nobody else was doing at the time.
A big orchestral kit….some very odd rhythms…and giving the drum solo a bigger part in many of the studio songs.
The other thing he did was write lyrics that honed in on the sci-fi/dungeons and dragons zeitgeist that was going on in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
I don’t know too many long hairs from 1979 that didn’t own every Rush album.
