Let me tell you a magical story of my dangerous criminal career of danger: one entire jaywalking ticket.

Now, funny thing. There is a guy in Canada that has the same name as me. He lives in a different province, many miles away, and is about ten years older. And one day he skipped parole and was never heard of again.

So anyway I got a jaywalking ticket and I gave the officer my ID and tried to be polite (he caught me jaywalking fair and square). The cops checked me out on their little coputer and then told me to step away from the car. They got out, handcuffed me, and started screaming threats and swearwords and asking why I was on the run and what I had done in some town in North Saskatchewan. I denied everything but they took that as a sign of my guilt and got angrier and more aggressive. Eventually, one of them got back in the car, checked the computer again, got back out, whispered something to the other cop, and they uncuffed me, wrote me the jaywalking ticket and drove off. I was in cuffs for almost an hour and ended up being late for work and almost getting fired.

Of course the next day I got a lawyer and we went down to the pig pen. I was given an explanation and promised that it would never happen again.

So yeah, bad cops make mistakes, and the “I’m innocent” thing generally makes them angry. I’m glad this happened in a free country where cops have restrictions, because in most countries I doubt the cops would have decided my life was worth admitting their mistake. Pigs need to have rules or there will be no end to what they will do to innocent civilians otherwise.
