Are you talking about the Carcará field? It’s big, but it’s also deep – in 2,027 meters of water. The well where the oil was found had been drilled to a depth of 6,213 meters.

They’re talking about $100+ per barrel just to pump it, and then refining on top of that.I

Not seeing a major shitstorm over that until prices rise or onshore supplies start drying up.

Could the peak-oil scenario, if it comes to pass, press us into invading a country that has nearly 2/3 our population and 9/10 our area –most of it tropical rainforest?
IMO: not until the the Baby Boom Generation is dead & gone are you gonna find the US getting into another full-scale jungle war, for any reason.

The days of getting into wars is over. Or at least, the days of expecting victory in war is over. Every dismantling of a nation (“mission accomplished”) is followed by the sad realization that the fighting continues with or without a formal government.

    Ya….no.

Just no. The sheer…no. You are as wrong as a man can be but not quite as wrong as a woman can be. Don’t feel bad they get way more practice.

Like that’s EVER stopped us from invading in the first place.

You guys are tapped out. Iran, North Korea, and Syria are all having field days.

    Americans….sigh.

The rest of the world has peace keepers as at least a part of their military. America is a strike force.
Just because you guys leave doesn’t mean everyone else does.
The days of getting into wars are just starting.
