Seeing as how a L(andingship) H(elicoptor) D(ock) is about the same size (if not larger) and more capable than WWII Aircraft Carriers and those currently operated by other Nations it’s a distinction without distinction. The main distinction between a US Aircraft Carrier and a US LHD is that the Aircraft Carrier is run buy the Navy for mostly Strategic Purposes while LHD’s are run by the Marines mostly for Tactical Purposes.
