Supreme Arrogance is thinking that the universe has no meaning unless you’re a part of it in one form or another.

    Animus

I believe it was Lord Alfred Tennyson who said that it was inconcievable that the entire universe was created for those of us who live on a third-rate world of a third-rate star…

    Animus

My favorite answer to “why are we here?” was proposed by J.M. Strazynski when he proposed that intelligent life evolved as a byproduct of the universe trying to figure itself out.
That one usually causes people’s heads to go a bit sideways.

    Korinthian

You say it as if it’s anything more than a half-assed guess.

    Animus

    aren’t they all half-assed guesses?

    Korinthian

Some people use both cheeks, then there are those that post conspiracy theories on youtube about free energy devices suppressed by Big Oil.

    bstaples

…but rather was a result of the proverbial “shit” happening.

Q: Why doesn’t the bible mention the total waste of space that is the universe?

A: The authors of the book didn’t know about it.

    Rotatebilly

Yeah, it’s weird isn’t it? Don’t you think that ‘Genesis’ should have at least mentioned DNA in there somewhere (just as a side-note, you know? just a little; “By the way, you’re made up of small things called cells”, just at the end, that would have sorted a lot of shit out). Also; why didn’t they mention kangaroos in the arc story? They’re such interesting animals, why wouldn’t you take that opportunity to mention them? Come to think of it the things that are mentioned in the bible are things that were around the bloke writing. like; wouldn’t God want… Read more »

    Korinthian

Speaking of DNA, wouldn’t Eve have the same DNA as Adam if she was made of his rib?

And Christians say evolution is unbelievable.

    Rotatebilly

*not flat, the Earth is not flat

    no

People used math to know that the earth was round, and how big it actually was, well before the bible was written.

    Dreth

Christians don’t believe in math or studying.

    Sutenvulf

So what do you call those Christians who study the bible?

    Dreth

    A waste of time.

    Isa 40:22

Assuming you aren’t trolling, “why doesn’t the bible talk about X?” isn’t a very solid ground of questioning.

    Korinthian

It’s a very good question. If stuff were in the bible that peasants couldn’t know, more people could be convinced that it had a divine origin.

Christians just make excuses of why it’s a crappy book when facts are concerned.

    TrAyVon'S GhOSt, nuCca

Find me a religious text that aligns with science and whatever facts you’re barfing back out that you read online.

Yet you focus on one group.

Way to gulp down the Kool Aide.

    REEEEEEEEEEEETAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRD

    100110110110010

It’s a very solid “ground” of questioning, considering the bible is the literal inerrant word of the most intelligent being who ever was and will be.

    boggart

god was an evil alien that created man to do his bidding. he wanted slaves. but the adam’s and eve’s ruined that with free will. so he wrote a book to gain control of the masses again. but man ruined that again with free will by turning it into a million different religions.

    Vance

No, the person who made this sarcastic demotivational poster; his or her ‘atheism’ is their positive belief that there can NOT be a creator God. They can’t imagine a God of any sort. Isn’t that curious?! And yet when they turn the subject to a supernatural creator being, it’s automatically the one of the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. (Why?) Now, they could lament that one’s poor moral character and move the hell on. But no. No, they mentally camp there. And rather than think about what *the* God would really be like *instead,* they say they know that no God… Read more »

Dude, I can’t even tell if you’re atheist or not. I can tell you’re irritated, but that’s about it.

    100110110110010

He’s a christian, playing the victim card again. They’re really good at that. They’ve had about 1800 years of practice.

Atheist: someone will a shit tonne of growing up to do with a very very very limited knowledge of both science and religion but insists on arguing anyway. Picked on by kids in school they all now associate with a fabricated idea of some evil right wing Christian white guys.
“Atheists” like to point out how Christians don’t know everything and flaws in their beliefs but poke holes in their beliefs in the same way and they cry more than any Christian.
It’s so sad that it’s like a social sub group. I think you were all Emo before.

    sleepyjoe256

Do you believe in a higher power?

    Korinthian

By his own definition (above): no.

    100110110110010

I love it when Christians whine about ppl “picking” on their belief? (“why can’t you pick on islam? can’t we just all agree that islam is bullshit? please?”)

they dominate our society and (attempt to) poison everything they’ve touched for the last 2,000 years, but it’s they who are the victim.

    bitches, please.
