The umbilical cord is still attached, but it’s really light, which would indicate it’s been cut. But that elephant is WAY too small to be full term. I mean, goddamn, baby elephants are usually about 100kg.

No clue, I found it….well gee i don’t remember anymore.
Do a Google search on “premature baby elephant”. Looks like the image dates from at least 2009, which predates a successful (and surviving) preemie elephant born at Sydney in March of 2010.
And that’s all I could find in 5 minutes of searching.
Somebody else can keep looking.
