This photograph was taken on the Washington Navy Yard when the first official delegation from Japan visited the United States in 1860.

    They don’t look Asian when you enlarge the pic.

    I wonder if those are native Japanese people? I didn’t think they had any political influence at that time but who knows.

    They don’t treat native Japanese very well. Much worse than native Americans get.


    I didn’t know that there was a distinction between “Native” Japanese and the…regular Japanese (?) Could you tell us more? Like a wikipedia article name?

    The Asian Japanese are from China.
