Given the mess that was left to him by the previous administration, I don’t think the guy’s doing a bad job. Problem is too many people expected too much from him. Expected him to be able to wave a magic wand and fix the economy or something. Could McCain have done better? Dunno… probably not much better, though. Don’t think anyone could really have come out looking good by now.
Economy’s recovering, though. Slowly. Whether it’s his doing or just natural rebound, it is recovering.
McCain would have us in two more wars, Iran and N. Korea. Maybe a third one with Russia over the Republic of Georgia. He’s gone off the deep end in the last few years.
I really think the only people who really pushed the, “He’ll fix everything in months” meme were people who needed him to fail on an emotional level, ie republicans.
I ain’t sayin’ McCain could have done better, but Obama came into the election with nothing. Besides the fact he’s inexperienced his only promises were hope and change, he had no plans to back those up. Hell, his plan to save the economy was to spend more than all the other presidents ALL AT ONCE.
