Brazilian wandering spider

“Phoneutria nigriventer venom contains a potent neurotoxin, known as PhTx3, which acts as a broad-spectrum calcium channel blocker that inhibits glutamate release, calcium uptake and also glutamate uptake in neural synapses. At deadly concentrations, this neurotoxin causes loss of muscle control, and breathing problems, resulting in paralysis and eventual asphyxiation. In addition, the venom causes intense pain and inflammation following an attack due to an excitatory effect the venom has on the serotonin 5-HT4 receptors of sensory nerves. This sensory nerve stimulation causes a release of neuropeptides such as substance P which triggers inflammation and pain.”

Can also cause 4+ hour boners.

Can also cause people to burn it with fire.

I like spiders, but that shit is scary. Poisonous spiders aren’t supposed to get that big. At least, ones that can harm humans anyway.

Spider is obviously defanged. Otherwise that guy would be screaming in pain and the spider would still be trying to bite him and inject even MORE venom into him unless he managed to kill it.

    fracked again

Really? I’ve seen a guy handle a funnel web spider, and those things give me the willies.

That shit needs to go behind a Not-Safe-For-Anything cut.

Also, take off and nuke from orbit.

JESUS FUCK WHY IN HELL HASN’T THAT MAN SHAVED HIS ARMS? Spiders are attracted to hair, it’s why they get so hair

*crosses Brazil off the list of places to visit*

These guys are commonly considered the most venomous spider on the planet. To make things more interesting, they’re extremely aggressive, have been known to actually chase people down, and rarely give dry bites.
