You are assuming the ethnocentric standpoint
that because they look “human” they must have originated on Earth? Even though
the opening scroll clearly states it all happened a long long time ago? Obviously that means it would predate our own ability to explore the universe.
Either Lucas is hinting that we are not so entirely special, and that a very similar human
evolution can occur on many other worlds, or he
is hinting that humans on Earth are descended from
the species’ depicted in the Star Wars Galaxy.

Before the Vong came, inhabitants of the known
Star Wars Galaxy believed anything beyond the
outer rim was just an empty void. Though I have only read 3 books into the Vong Invasion. Perhaps more is determined of their origin and flight path in further installments?
